Herman Miller recently decided to upgrade the lighting systems in several facilities in West Michigan, saving the company $70,000 annually in electricity costs and improving the work environment for its employees.
More than 1,900 lighting fixtures at several locations were upgraded, replacing T-12 fluorescent lamps and magnetic ballasts with more efficient T-8 fluorescent lamps, electronic ballasts and reflectors. To reduce lighting expenditure in unoccupied areas, motion sensors and pulse-start metal halide lamps were also installed in certain locations. In addition to energy savings, the project has resulted in greater employee satisfaction with their work environment.
The project included a comprehensive turnkey program including a free detail lighting analysis, project management, 100% equipment lease financing with no down payment required, recycling and disposal of old components, and a manufacturer’s warranty of five years for ballasts and three years for lamps.
